Driftwood Association's Award Night

I am so humbled to have been selected Woman of the Year by the association. The nomination alone was just amazing to me and I was very much so happy for that alone. There were so many nominees who have done such remarkable things that winning was the last thing on my mind, I only thought "well gosh I'm sitting among an elite group". The award has really has given me the encouragement I need to do a whole lot more. When I think about being the youngest person nominated I realize that I have more time to do a whole lot more should it be God's desire. But I am thankful to have been recognized and hope I have sparked a desire in some young person to live a SELFLESS life. Congrats to all who were nominated for such amazing contributions to the community. My grandmother taught me that the life I live now will speak for me when I die. ANYWHOOOOO about my dress... I went pretty simple, didn't to buy anything so I guess this eggplant purple peplum was sitting in my closet for such a time as this...Purchased earlier this year from Asos with not an idea of where I would wear it.

With Ms. Jules the President of the Driftwood Association

Man and Woman of the Year... it's an honor!

Some of the greatest people I know!

Alcindor is greatness, such an honor to be led by this young man, a cancer survivor who smiled through his fight. He's got that NOW faith.

Clanardo just loves me different. Some former students remain in your life forever.

My former student, this man is a testimony, I am standing next to a miracle. Cancer lost with him. Love him to pieces.

I appreciate my First Lady way more than I can ever let her know... if anyone is praying for me I know she is!

Animals that eat skittles

I realize that people judge you by face value... but they would hate you no less if you allowed your wounds to bleed for them, so clean it up, but a band aid on it and say "YES ALL IS WELL". If only they had an appreciation for how well you've wrapped your struggle in strength!!!!! In other news this the best $18.00 dress ever and my mommy bought me these shoes last Christmas and I'm just taking them out for a spin, Thank you MOMMY.... Let's repeat that this Christmas! BODY BY HERBALIFE AND BOOT CAMP!!!! bbbbbbbbbbllllllllllaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

The Pink Rose Ball

So my friend Sandy invited me to the 2nd annual Pink Rose Ball which took place on the weekend. The Pink Rose Ball is a benefit event to raise funds for Breast Cancer awareness month. I must say the persons involved in executing the entire thing did a really really fabulous job and I say hats of to them, it was simply beautiful. Just to see over 300 beautifully dressed people was just heaven. However, it was not all just fun, there were some moments where tears where shared as women who I've seen around but never knew their story spoke about their battle with breast cancer and some AMAZING stories of survival and strength. I said to myself "THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL  STRONG WOMEN". I could not help but to think of Brittany a young lady so dear to my heart who did not have breast cancer but lost her fight with cancer nonetheless just two months ago. Just 4 days shy of her 18th Birthday we lost her and I think it has been one of the most devastating things I've had to deal with. There was a part during the event that we were given the opportunity to light a candle for those who fought and those who are fighting and I could not pass up that opportunity. I lit my candle and thought of her then thought of my aunt Brenda, then thought of an old Co worker Ms. Lilly (who is still alive) and realized this Cancer thing is certainly affecting us all. Never forget those who fought and pray for those who are still fighting. Rest in Perfect Peace Brittany, I love you, you were my greatest experience.
